BlackBerry, the smartphone manufacturer has partnered with mobile network operator DoCoMo. This partnership will offer 10 gigabit (GB) data and certain number of free calls to the post-paid subscribers using the BlackBerry 9320 handset. The package of services being offered by Dococmo includes a monthly basis plan worth Rs 1,080 that assures customers opting for the plan will recover the cost of the new BlackBerry device within 15 months.
The head for non-voice services stated that the monthly rental plan of Rs 599furnished by Tata DoCoMo gives 600 minutes of free local and national calling, free 600 local and national SMS and an unlimited BlackBerry Internet Services plan. He further stated that the bundled services in the plan are worth Rs 1,080 on monthly basis which will facilitate consumers to recover cost of their BlackBerry device in 15 months.
Research In Motion India’s head of CDMA business said that the consumers who wish to avail the facility can avail the handset BlackBerry 9320 from any mobile store available; but the offer in which 10 GB data download limit is provided will only be available on GSM network of Tata DoCoMo.
It has also been made clear that once the limit of 600 minute calls facility is over, customers will be charged with the customary rate of 1 paisa per second applicable on Tata DoCoMo network. The mobile network operator DoCoMo has recently introduced a new method of registering mobile numbers and also adding value added services to its users through the use of their Twitter accounts.
The process facilitates GSM prepaid customers to tweet at the Tata Docomo Twitter account @tatadocomo and can place their request. The company has termed this new program as ‘TwittCom’. With the help of this programme users can register their mobile number by sending a tweet to @tatadocomo and type #reg <mobile number>. On the other hand, RIM has been struggling to keep up with the stern mobile competition present in the market, and reportedly running out of options.
